Just like Grandmother used to make!  When you walk into the home of Kandice & Thomas Thompson, you can almost guarantee a delightful aroma from the kitchen will greet you.  Kandice is often found baking her extremely moist and delicious egg bread, which is always in demand. Some loyal folks travel over two hours just to enjoy her famous pizza, pizza pie and stromboli.  Even the sauce is made from scratch, using organic, natural, whole ingredients and seasoning it with just the right amount of herbs and spices. Kandice has dedicated the past several years to cooking from scratch and has extended her culinary expertise and often her dinner table to include her family and friends near and far.

The holiday season always brings with it a huge demand for Thomas’s old fashioned Cocoa Fudge, which he has been cooking up for over thirty years! His Cocoa Fudge will melt in your mouth and keep you begging for more.  In addition to Cocoa Fudge, Thomas recently began adding his expertise to the family recipe for Peanut Butter Fudge.  Traditionally, Kandice made Peanut Butter Fudge for her Father every year at holiday time, since it reminded him so much of his Mom’s famous peanut butter fudge.  After his passing, Kandice has found it difficult to make peanut butter fudge, so Thomas keeps the tradition going by using the recipe containing Grandmother’s secrets.

Kandice learned in some of the best kitchens, from the best cooks around. From the time she was a child, Kandice spent endless hours in her Grandmother Cooper’s kitchen, candy making and baking up a variety of cookies and pies. Mabel Cooper was a well known  Navy Mother and familiar to everyone as the Candy Lady.  Mabel’s pie crusts and Peanut butter fudge couldn’t be beat!  Kandice also attributes her culinary knowledge and skill to her Grandmother, Alice Royse. Although Kandice never really knew her Grandmother Royse, Alice seems to guide her from beyond when it comes to creating culinary delights. .  Kandice also pays homage to her mother, Sallie Cooper and her Aunt,  Susan  Markley. Let’s just say these twin sisters can practically pull a rabbit out of a hat, whipping up magic in the kitchen.

When Kandice was in her mid twenties, she had the privilege of learning from an elderly Sicilian woman, who shared her timeless cooking tips and Old World traditions of Italian and Sicilian food preparation.  From pasta sauces, noodles to breads, she received priceless knowledge that her family and friends have come to love and appreciate.
